Harris began his career with the Department of Corrections in November 2008 as a correctional officer at WKCC. He promoted to sergeant in 2010, to lieutenant in 2013, and then to unit administrator II in 2015. His most recent assignment has been overseeing the institution's restrictive housing unit and the transition unit.
During his correctional career, he has served on the Corrections Emergency Response Team (CERT) and has acted as commander of the K-9 Unit. He has been recognized with numerous awards during his career, including supervisor of the quarter. Harris was also selected as a recipient of the 2012 WKCC Achievement Award and is a graduate of the Commissioner's Executive Leadership Program.
Harris is a graduate of Full Sail University, and accredited school through the University of Central Florida, with a degree in computer animation.
