District Supervisor - Mike Mitchell
Mitchell began his career in July 2007 as a probation and parole officer in District 19, where he supervised a felony caseload. In 2011, Mitchell assumed responsibility for a specialized caseload focused on the supervision of domestic violence offenders. In 2012, Mitchell began supervising the Kentucky Hope (now S.M.A.R.T.) caseload.
In 2013, Mitchell was named to the Probation and Parole Field Training Officer (FTO) committee. The committee was charged with developing the original FTO Program for the Kentucky Division of Probation and Parole. Mitchell continues to serve on the FTO committee and was instrumental in the redevelopment of the program, now known as the Enhanced FTO Program. The program trains officers to supervise caseloads with a focus on reentry and successful outcomes.
Mitchell was promoted to a District 19 assistant supervisor in 2014. In addition to the FTO committee, Mitchell also serves on the Louisville Metro Sober Living House Task Force and as a liaison to the Louisville Metro Public Defenders Alternative Sentencing Division.
A graduate of the University of Louisville, Mitchell has a bachelor's degree in justice administration. Additionally, he holds a certificate as a Police Training Officer from the Southern Police Institute. Mitchell is a current participant in the Commissioner's Executive Leadership Program. He was the recipient of the District 19 Achievement Award in 2009 and a Department of Corrections Hero Award in 2011.
