District Supervisor - Michael "Thorne" Roberts
In May of 2012, Michael Thorne Roberts graduated Cum Laude from Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice, with a minor in Psychology. In December 2012, Roberts began his career with the Kentucky Department of Corrections as a Probation and Parole Officer posted out of the Williamsburg Probation & Parole Office. While there, Roberts had several differing caseloads comprised of parole, probation and pretrial diversion offenders who resided in McCreary and Whitley counties. In addition during this period of time Roberts was the District 20 Home Incarceration Program (HIP) Officer. Roberts later in his career was posted out of both the Monticello and Somerset offices, supervising caseloads spanning six (6) counties within District 20.
While continuing with his home incarceration duties, he was also the Somerset Field Training Officer and Safety Officer. In December 2018, Roberts was promoted to Assistant District Supervisor with his primary job duty being the supervision of the Williamsburg Probation & Parole Office, which covers Whitley and McCreary counties. In May 2022, Roberts transferred to the Somerset Probation and Parole Office with his primary job duty being supervision of the Pulaski County Probation & Parole Office. Additionally, his other duties while an Assistant District Supervisor in District 20 were the following, Courtnet/KyOPS Administrator, District 20 ICOTS Administrator, E-Warrants/SOR Administrator, Firearms Instructor, Field Training Officer, PREA Investigator and Public Information Officer. Roberts, a Wayne County native, holds the distinction of being a graduate of the 2020 Commissioner's Executive Leadership Program and the recipient of the 2025 Commissioner's Award for the department. On September 16, 2026 Roberts was then promoted to the position of District Supervisor for District 20 Probation and Parole offices.
