It is the mission of the Little Sandy Correctional Complex to protect society by confining offenders in a controlled environment that is safe, humane, and secure. Also to provide self improvement opportunities that assist inmates in becoming productive citizens through education, correctional programs and work.

About LSCC

Little Sandy Correctional Complex is a medium security institution located in Elliott County, Kentucky. It is the state's newest and most technologically advance institution. Construction began in December 2001 with the ground breaking ceremony. The institution began receiving its first female inmates in May 2005. Male inmates began arriving on July 15, 2005 and by September 2005, all female inmates were transferred.

A total of 1050 inmates are currently housed in two living units at Little Sandy Correctional Complex. Our housing also includes a 100 bed minimum security unit and a 118 bed special management unit. There are numerous support buildings including academic and vocational schools, a medical unit, inmate canteen, correctional industries, a gym, dining facility, and maintenance area.

Little Sandy Correctional Complex received its initial accreditation on August 13, 2007 by the American Correctional Association (ACA) with 100% compliance. The institution was reaccredited on July 13, 2013, and was once again awarded with 100% compliance. LSCC was also reaccredited in 2016, 2019, 2022
