District Supervisor - Amber Ryan
Ryan began her career in the criminal justice field in 2007, working as a deputy court clerk in Jefferson County Circuit Court. In 2008, she was hired as a probation and parole officer in District 18 where she supervised a felony caseload. She also served as a PORTAL facilitator and was selected to participate in the LS/CMI risk assessment pilot program. In 2014, Ryan was chosen to be a member of the initial class of field training officers in the Division of Probation and Parole. In 2015, she served as a member of the American Correctional Association (ACA) compliance team.
In 2016, Ryan was promoted to assistant supervisor in District 18. In this role, Ryan served as a PREA investigator and as a member of the division's New Initiative and Sanctions Committee. Additionally, Ryan served as a member of the Criminal Justice Advisory Board for Jefferson Community and Technical College. In 2022, Ryan developed and implemented District 18's truth-in-sentencing assignment plan to ensure coverage while protecting staff morale.
A 2006 graduate of the University of Louisville, Ryan earned a bachelor's degree in administration of justice with a minor in sociology. She received a DOC Achievement Award in 2010.
