LSCC In-Person Visiting Information

Rules and Guidelines

Visiting hours are from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm, Saturday, Sunday, and approved holidays. (Times vary according to assigned placement, as seen below)

Visitation must be scheduled by the visitor in advance by contacting the prison. To schedule an appointment to visit, please contact the following:

In-person Visits:

• General Population: Saturday & Sunday, 8:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

• Minimum Security Unit (MSU): Saturday & Sunday, 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

• Special Management Unit (SMU):

• Administrative SMU – Sunday only, 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

• Disciplinary SMU – Saturday only, 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

 

No one will be admitted or allowed to exit during count times (11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m., approximate times).

Visits will be 2 hours and each inmate will be allowed 4 visits per month that must be scheduled and approved before visiting.

Visitation must be scheduled by the visitor in advance by contacting the prison. To schedule an appointment to visit, please contact the following:

• Visitors of inmates living in GB or SMU Housing Units should contact Unit Secretary Dennis at (606) 738-6133, ext. 1602, or email LSCC.gbsmu@ky.gov 

 

All visitors must follow Little Sandy Correctional Complex's visitation protocol and visitors must be on the Inmates visitation list. Inmates should recommend their visitors go to the LSCC website for visitation guidelines.

 

  1. An inmate shall be allowed one (1) visit per calendar week. The week begins on Sunday and ends on Saturday.
  2. Adults must have a photo ID. 
  3. Children must have two (2) forms of identification.
  4. No more than two (2) adult visitors shall visit an inmate during a non-contact visit.
  5. No more than three (3) adult visitors shall visit an inmate during a contact visit.
  6. Physical contact within the bounds of good taste shall be permitted at the beginning and end of each visit. (Example: one brief kiss and a hug, no open mouth kisses).
  7. No holding hands during the visit.
  8. Sexual stimulation or activity shall be strictly prohibited.
  9. Children shall be under parental control at all times.
  10. Infants (0-1 year) may be held by inmate. All other children must be seated or held by visiting parent or guardian.
  11. Children under the age of eighteen (18) may not visit unless approved and documented on the inmate's visiting list. The child must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian or by other family members with written parental or guardian approval. The name of the parent, legal guardian, or other family members shall be included on the approved visitation list.
  12. If a minor is accompanied by a non-parent or guardian a written, signed, and notarized consent of the parent or guardian shall be required prior to visit.
  13. Infants under the age of six months may visit without a social security number. Provided the person bringing them meets all the guidelines to visit.
  14. A visitor may not visit more than one (1) inmate unless authorized by the Warden or designee.
  15. No items may be brought in by the visitor and given to the inmate unless prior approval from the Warden is obtained.
  16. All trash must be placed in the appropriate containers at the end of each visit.
  17. Possession or use of tobacco is prohibited as LSCC. LSCC is a tobacco free institution.
  18. Any visit may be terminated immediately at the discretion of the visiting area supervisor if he/she determines an incident to be of a serious nature.
  19. Any violation of the above-listed rules will result in immediate termination of the visit.

Non-Contact Visiting Information

The visit shall be scheduled by prior written appointment only and at least seven (7) days in advance of the visit. The appropriate Deputy Warden shall schedule any non-contact visit. A visit may be scheduled upon an inmate's request. Faxes and emails from potential visitors shall not be accepted.

Visitor Dress Code information

Visitors clothing shall not be considered lewd, sexually suggestive, or disrupt the positive family atmosphere provided by the institution. This includes:

  1. No spandex clothing (this includes pants and tops).
  2. No tank tops or tube tops.
  3. Dresses, skirts, and shorts must be knee length or longer.
  4. No see-through clothing.
  5. No hooded sweatshirts, no sweatshirts with pockets, no jackets, and no sleeveless shirts (to include see-through sleeves).
  6. Shirts must be capable of being tucked into jeans, slacks, or skirts.
  7. No low-cut or provocative clothing will be allowed, i.e., tight fitting pants, low-cut shirts, fishnet clothing, no cleavage shall be visible. No rips or tears in clothing.
  8. Appropriate undergarments must be worn, i.e., bra, panties, underwear, a slip worn with a dress.
  9. No hats will be permitted.
  10. Visitors must wear shoes, no flip flops or sandals. Shoes shall not be open toe or heel. Shoes shall not have more than a two inch heel.
  11. No boots above the knee.
  12. No gloves.
  13. No sunglasses; only prescription glasses
  14.  

Visitors inappropriately dressed will not be allowed to visit that day.

Items Allowed in the Visiting Room

  1. Forty-dollar limit per inmate being visited ($40 in $1 bills and silver change).
  2. Vehicle keys (1-Ignition key 1-Door key, locker key, no key chains).
  3. Clear container for money (Plastic baggie, clear coin purse).
  4. Essential infant items (1-Plastic bottle, 3-diapers), no toys, and no glass baby food jars.
  5. Visitors may wear (1) watch (smart watch-any mobile device with a touchscreen display, designed to be worn on the wrist, is prohibited), (1) ring, and (1) pair of earrings.
  6. Items not allowed in the visiting room shall be placed in lockers. Staff will dispose of any items left at the institution.

Visitor Parking Lot Guidelines

It is the responsibility of a visitor to ensure that when their vehicle is parked on state property and/or institutional grounds that their vehicle is secured. This includes:

  1. Windows are rolled up.
  2. Doors locked.
  3. Trunk locked.
  4. Sunroof closed and locked.

Any visitor whose vehicle is found unsecured or fails to follow these rules shall have their visit terminated immediately for that day. That visitor may return the next visiting day.

Video Visitation Information 

Video Visits are available:

1. Create a Securus Online account by going to www.securustech.net. Click “sign up" to create your account.

2. Once approved, log in to your Securus Online account and select “Schedule Session."

3. Enjoy your video session

Video visits does not count against the number of regularly allowed in-person visits.        

All visits are recorded and subject to monitoring. Visits may be terminated for any violation of the rules and guidelines.

A violation of the video visiting rules listed here, CPP 16.1, CPP 16.15, or listed in the terms and conditions of use, as stated in the account agreement with the video visitation provider, may result in the restriction of video visitation privileges against the inmate and visitor.

 

VISITOR APPROVAL AND SCHEDULING

1. The scheduling visitor must be pre-approved by requesting to be added to the approved visiting list as outlined in CPP 16.1.

2. Once placed on the approved visiting list, the scheduling visitor must register with the video visitation provider by visiting securustech.online or by downloading the securus mobile app from the app store.

3. Use of the video visitation system shall be open to all visitors over the age of eighteen (18), who are not restricted from contacting a given inmate by statute, regulation, court order, or conditions of supervision.

4. Minors may only use the video visitation system under supervision of the scheduling visitor, provided the minor and adult visitor meet the listed criteria.

6. Attorneys may use the video visitation system. A designated staff member shall verify the credentials before approving an attorney. Attorney video visits shall not be recorded.

VISITOR RULES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. All scheduling visitors shall follow the registration process directed by the video visitation provider to establish an account for video visitation.

2. A valid driver's license or official photo identification such as a military ID or passport shall be required to establish an account.

3. All scheduling visitors shall schedule video visits as directed by the video visitation provider. All video visits shall be scheduled at least forty-eight (48) hours in advance.

4. Video visits shall be scheduled on a first come, first served basis and are subject to the availability of kiosks.

5. The scheduling visitor shall ensure all other visitors present during a video visitation session adhere to the rules and criteria listed here and, in the terms and conditions of use, as stated in the account agreement with the video visitation provider.

6. All visitors shall wear clothing in good taste. Overly revealing clothing, form-fitting clothing, and clothing displaying offensive, illegal, or gang related messages shall be prohibited.

7. There shall be no displays of nudity, pornography, sexual acts, sexual poses, violence, alcohol use, drug use, gang signs, weapons, general gang activity, or any other illegal or disruptive activity during a video visit.

8. Any request for reimbursement by a scheduling visitor shall be referred directly to, and processed by, the video visitation provider.

9. A video visit may not be recorded or reproduced for any reason by members of the public without advance and approved permission from the DOC.

10. ​A visitor may be restricted from video visitation for a specific period of time for a violation of the video visitation rules listed here or listed in the terms and conditions of use, as stated in the account agreement with the video visitation provider.
