Deputy Warden Patricia Gunter

Gunter began her career with the Department of Corrections in 2009 as a correctional officer at LLCC. She worked her way through the ranks, promoting to sergeant, lieutenant, captain, administrative captain, and major. In July 2019, Gunter was detailed to deputy warden of security at LLCC. In this role, Gunter supervised the security department, ensured the security and control of the institution, and assumed operations responsibility during the absence of the warden. 

Gunter has acted as a firearms instructor, adjustment committee supervisor, and PREA investigator, as well as assisting with recruitment and serving as a member of the Corrections Emergency Response Team (CERT). She is certified in individual crisis intervention, group crisis intervention, and peer support. Additionally, she has completed numerous FEMA ICS courses and specialized business management courses. 

Prior to her career in Corrections, Gunter worked for 26 years in the banking industry with 15 years in a management role. She retired in 2006 after working several years as the assistant vice president at Fifth Third Bank.

Gunter has been recognized by the department for her excellence in leadership. She was awarded Supervisor of the Quarter in 2017, Lieutenant of the Year in 2014, and the LLCC Achievement Award in 2015.
