Visiting Information

Visitation Schedule 
Visitation will be the first (1st) and third (3rd) Saturday for inmates ending in an odd number, and the second (2nd) and fourth (4th) Saturday for inmates ending with an even number.
 
Visiting hours from 9:00am to 2:30pm  
 
No entry between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. or after 2:00 p.m. 

The visitor must arrive at the institution no less than one-half hour before the end of visitation. 

Inmates housed in the Segregation Unit and inmates who have had their visiting privileges restricted for disciplinary reasons are permitted non-contact visits only. Non-contact visitation is conducted by appointment only.  The visit must be scheduled one week in advance. It is the inmate's responsibility to schedule these visits with their caseworker. 

All bonding visits must be scheduled through the Bonding Coordinator.

Who May Visit
All visitors must be listed on the inmate's approved visiting list. 

Visits may include three (3) adults and minor children who are on the visiting list. 

All adult visitors are required to have proper picture identification. 

All visitors shall be subject to search. 

Minor children (under the age of 18 years) must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. If accompanied by another adult they must have written, notarized parental or guardian approval. The accompanying adult must be on the approved visiting list.
 
Visitors may bring the following allowable items
Current picture identification

Car keys (without key chains or electronic devices) 

One (1) debit or credit card.​

One (1) small, clear plastic change purse (no billfold) 

One (1) pair prescription eyeglasses or sunglasses 

Jewelry shall not be excessive 

Necessary medication that is in an authorized container

 
A visitor with a baby, may bring the following
Four (4) disposable diapers.

One (1) small package of baby wipes.

Three (3) clear, plastic baby bottles or Sippy cups.

One (1) pacifier.

One (1) baby blanket.

 
Visitor Parking Lot Guidelines
Visitors must secure their vehicles (Windows up, doors and trunk closed and locked, sunroof closed). 

No Drugs, alcohol, tobacco or weapons allowed on the premises. 

All vehicles are subject to search at any time. 

If dangerous contraband is found, the visitor shall be detained until the appropriate law enforcement agency arrives. 

No visitor, child (other than an infant) or adult shall be admitted with bare feet. Visitors must wear closed toe and closed heel shoes.

                                         

Visitor Dress Code Policy

To maintain the safety, security, and orderly operation of this facility, all visitors must comply with the following dress code. Visitors who fail to comply will be denied entry.

1. General Standards

  • Visitors must wear modest clothing appropriate for a correctional environment.
  • Appropriate undergarments must be worn at all times and must not be visible.
  • Shirts must fully cover the shoulders, cleavage, and midriff.
  • Footwear must be worn at all times. Bare feet are not permitted.

2. Prohibited Attire

  • Provocative, revealing, see-through, or excessively tight-fitting clothing.
  • Shorts, dresses, or skirts that are more than 2 inches above the knee when standing.
  • Tank tops, halter tops, tube tops, or any sleeveless shirts.
  • Spandex, leggings, or yoga pants when worn as the outermost garment. These items are permitted only when worn underneath a skirt, dress, or pants that meet length requirements.
  • Clothing displaying obscene language, images, or symbols; gang-related insignia; or content that is offensive, derogatory, or disruptive.
  • Head coverings of any type, including hats, caps, bandanas, scarves, or hoods. (Religious head coverings are permitted but are subject to search.)

3. Enforcement

  • Facility staff have the sole discretion to determine whether clothing complies with this policy.
  • Visitors arriving in violation of the dress code will be given the opportunity to correct the issue if possible (e.g., changing clothes, covering up). If the issue cannot be corrected, the visitor will be denied entry.​


It is the goal of the staff of KCIW to provide the privilege of visitation to you, your family, and friends.  We ask that you follow the guidelines and respect the rights of other visitors, staff, and inmates to make the visiting pleasant for everyone.

 
Visitation Information​
A regular visit may last the duration of scheduled visitation hours on each visitation day. If the visiting area reaches capacity and there are visitors waiting, the Shift Supervisor shall shorten a visit on a first in-first out basis to ensure that all visitors have the opportunity to visit.
