Rules & Restrictions:
No more than three (3) visitors shall visit an inmate during a contact visit. If a child can walk, they are counted as one (1) of the three.
No more than two (2) visitors shall visit an inmate during a controlled visit.
Visits must be scheduled one week in advance by contacting Ms. Hale via email at Kathryn.hale@ky.gov or via phone at (606)452-6300 ext. 1013. For attorney visits contact Warden's Secretary Mrs. Fraley via email at heatherf@ky.gov or via phone at (606)452-6300 ext. 1067 or via fax at (606)452-6330. If the inmate is placed in Special Management Housing (SMU) or a different housing unit are due to visitation restrictions it is the inmate's responsibility to advise their visitors.
Physical contact within the bounds of good taste shall be permitted at the beginning & end of each visit. (One brief hug & kiss, no open mouth kissing)
Sexual stimulation or activity shall be strictly prohibited.
Children must always be kept under parent or guardian's control.
An infant (0-1 year) may be held by the inmate. All other children must be seated or held by the visiting parent or guardian.
All trash must be placed in trash can before returning from vending machines to table.
Each visitor, if needed, must make restroom visits prior to going through the body scanner & entering the visitation area.
Arrival Time:
Visitors scheduled for visitation 8:30-10:30am, must arrive on grounds no earlier than 8:00am & no later than 9:00am.
Visitors scheduled for visitation 11:00-1:00am, must arrive on grounds no earlier than 10:30am & not later than 11:30am.
Visitors with prior approval scheduled for extended visitation 10:30-2:30pm, must arrive on grounds no earlier than 10:00am & no later than 11:00am.
Visitor(s) have a 30-minute window of arrival time before & after their scheduled start time.
If there is an emergency that would delay the visitor (must be verified) an exception may be made by the Shift Supervisor. The visitor must call (606)452-6300 & ask for Shift Supervisor and relay what the situation is and why they would be late. A decision will be made at that time.
If they show up at Institutional Count time, they will not be permitted past Post 1 until after Institutional Count is cleared.
State Holidays- Visitors scheduled for visitation 8:30-10:30am, must arrive on grounds no earlier than 8:00am & not later than 9:00am. Time slot allotted is to prevent interference with scheduled video visits.
Visitor Parking Lot Guidelines
It is the responsibility of a visitor to ensure that when their vehicle is parked on state property and/or institutional grounds that their vehicle is secured. This includes:
1. Windows are rolled up.
2. Doors locked.
3. Trunk locked.
4. Sunroof closed and locked.
Any visitor whose vehicle is found unsecured or fails to follow these rules shall have their visit terminated immediately for that day.
Dress Code:
Visitor clothing & dress shall conform as close as possible to accepted dress within the community & shall require clothing be in good taste as not to offend other visitors, staff, and/or inmates. This includes:
No Spandex Clothing
No tank tops or tube tops
Dresses, skirts, & shorts must be knee length.
No sleeveless shirts or see-through sleeves
No hoodies
Shirts must be capable of being tucked into jeans, slacks, or skirts.
No low-cut or provocative clothing will be allowed (I.E., tight-fitting pants, low-cut shirts, fishnet clothing or leggings)
Appropriate undergarments must be worn (I.E., bra, panties, underwear, a slip worn with a dress)
No hats are permitted.
Visitors must wear shoes (I.E., No open fronts or backs, no flip flops, or crocs)
Gloves are not allowed.
Allowed in the Visiting Room:
Vehicle keys, jackets/sweaters, & umbrellas must be left in the front lobby lockers.
Forty-dollar limit-($40 in $1 bills and/or silver change).
Clear container for money (plastic baggie or clear coin purse).
Visitors may wear the following jewelry limited to one (1) wedding set, one (1) religious medallion on necklace, and a medical alert item. Absolutely no bracelets.
Any visit may be terminated immediately at the discretion of the visiting area supervisor if he/she determines an incident to be of a serious nature. Any violation of the above listed rules will result in immediate termination of the visit and/or disciplinary action.
Video Visitation Information
Video Visits are available:
1. Create a Securus Online account by going to www.securustech.net. Click “sign up" to create your account.
2. Once approved, log in to your Securus Online account and select “Schedule Session."
3. Enjoy your video session
Video visits does not count against the number of regularly allowed in-person visits.
All visits are recorded and subject to monitoring. Visits may be terminated for any violation of the rules and guidelines.
A violation of the video visiting rules listed here, CPP 16.1, CPP 16.15, or listed in the terms and conditions of use, as stated in the account agreement with the video visitation provider, may result in the restriction of video visitation privileges against the inmate and visitor.
VISITOR APPROVAL AND SCHEDULING
1. The scheduling visitor must be pre-approved by requesting to be added to the approved visiting list as outlined in CPP 16.1.
2. Once placed on the approved visiting list, the scheduling visitor must register with the video visitation provider by visiting securustech.online or by downloading the securus mobile app from the app store.
3. Use of the video visitation system shall be open to all visitors over the age of eighteen (18), who are not restricted from contacting a given inmate by statute, regulation, court order, or conditions of supervision.
4. Minors may only use the video visitation system under supervision of the scheduling visitor, provided the minor and adult visitor meet the listed criteria.
6. Attorneys may use the video visitation system. A designated staff member shall verify the credentials before approving an attorney. Attorney video visits shall not be recorded.
VISITOR RULES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. All scheduling visitors shall follow the registration process directed by the video visitation provider to establish an account for video visitation.
2. A valid driver's license or official photo identification such as a military ID or passport shall be required to establish an account.
3. All scheduling visitors shall schedule video visits as directed by the video visitation provider. All video visits shall be scheduled at least forty-eight (48) hours in advance.
4. Video visits shall be scheduled on a first come, first served basis and are subject to the availability of kiosks.
5. The scheduling visitor shall ensure all other visitors present during a video visitation session adhere to the rules and criteria listed here and, in the terms and conditions of use, as stated in the account agreement with the video visitation provider.
6. All visitors shall wear clothing in good taste. Overly revealing clothing, form-fitting clothing, and clothing displaying offensive, illegal, or gang related messages shall be prohibited.
7. There shall be no displays of nudity, pornography, sexual acts, sexual poses, violence, alcohol use, drug use, gang signs, weapons, general gang activity, or any other illegal or disruptive activity during a video visit.
8. Any request for reimbursement by a scheduling visitor shall be referred directly to, and processed by, the video visitation provider.
9. A video visit may not be recorded or reproduced for any reason by members of the public without advance and approved permission from the DOC.
10. A visitor may be restricted from video visitation for a specific period of time for a violation of the video visitation rules listed here or listed in the terms and conditions of use, as stated in the account agreement with the video visitation provider.
Visitors must have the correct spelling and accurate information (as submitted for in-person visits - as it is in KOMS) to be approved on the Securus site to schedule video visits.
