District Supervisor - Colter Turner
Turner began his career with the DOC in 2015 as a probation and parole officer in District 16 where he supervised a regular felony probation caseload. He later assumed the roles of class D officer and home incarceration program officer before gaining a parole-specific caseload. A field training officer and firearms instructor, Turner has also served as a facilitator for Moral Reconation Therapy, Portal New Directions, and Thinking for a Change. Additionally, he has participated in joint fugitive operations with the U.S. Marshals Service.
In 2020, Turner was promoted to assistant supervisor in District 16 where he oversaw staff assigned to Reentry Service Centers and Mental Health Court. He also acted as the liaison for both ACA accreditation and the Louisville Metro Police Department. In addition to participating in various departmental committees, Turner has served as a panel member on the weekly Louisville Metro Police Shooting Review.
A 2013 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, Turner earned his bachelor's degree in criminal justice. He has completed the Certificate of Supervisory Essentials program through the Office of Diversity, Equality and Training. Turner is a graduate of the 2022 Commissioner's Executive Leadership Program. In 2018, he received the DOC Achievement Award for District 16 and was selected as the district's Employee of the Second Quarter.
