District 17

​District Supervisor - Griffin Brown

Brown began his career working as a community supervision and adult probation officer for the Monroe County Probation Department in Bloomington, Indiana. In 2003, he transferred to the Kentucky Department of Corrections as a probation and parole officer serving his hometown of Louisville in District 18. In 2007, Brown transferred to District 16 and served as a field training officer. Brown partnered with Catholic Charities to create the "Building a Tomorrow" program and was the District 16 officer assigned to the innovative Kentucky SMART (Supervision, Monitoring, Accountability, Responsibility, and Treatment) probation program since its inception. He has also served as the violent crime/major theft liaison to the Louisville Metro Police Department, disseminating information leading to the identification of dozens of wanted criminals.

Brown was promoted to assistant district supervisor in District 17 in October 2015. While in District 17, Brown spearheaded Kentucky Probation and Parole's participation in the Nationwide Cops-N-Cribs program to provide safe infant sleep information and free cribs to the children of offenders in need.

Brown is a 1999 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice administration. He also received the 2006 Officer of the Year Award.
