VINE System Back Online

The Kentucky Department of Corrections is aware of an issue caused by a vendor leading to false alerts being issued on Feb. 3 through the VINE system.

These alerts incorrectly indicated that certain inmates had been released from state custody. This information is false and should be disregarded.

The Department took the following actions to assist victims:

  • All individuals registered with VINE have received a notification that the service is currently in outage.
  • Victim Advocates are contacting victims by phone for any inmate who is scheduled to be released during the outage.
  • A voicemail notification with information regarding the outage and steps being taken has been added to the VINE call line for incoming phone calls.
  • Victim Advocates have scheduled automatic email notifications so pertinent information continues to be communicated.

In an act of transparency and to ensure public safety, the Department is posting the inmates who were released in accordance with state law and completion of their sentence between the dates of Feb. 3 - 6. The registered victims of these inmates have been contacted.

Victim Information and Notification Everyday

Offender Status

VINE (Victim Information and Notification Everyday) is a free automated notification system that alerts victims and concerned citizens about a change in custody of an offender. The system gathers information from jail booking systems, prisons and mental health facilities.

What will VINE do for me?

Vine will tell you if an offender is in custody and will give you important status information. VINE allows you to register a phone number(s) and/or email address where you can be notified automatically when his/her custody status changes. Click here for a brief description of the type of notifications VINE will send you.

VINE Facts

The offender will not know that you are registered.
You are able to register more than one phone or email.
When registering a phone number(s) you will create a four-digit PIN, you will use the PIN to verify you received the  notification.
If there is no answer, VINE will leave a message on an answering machine and will continue to call back for a 24-hour window until you enter your four-digit PIN.
VINE is an automated system; you may receive calls at any time, day or night.
VINE cannot be registered with a number that rings to a switchboard.
