The Kentucky Employee's Health Plan (KEHP) is a self-funded plan that offers health insurance and flexible spending accounts to nearly 265,000 members. Public employees, for public employees, run KEHP so members have a direct stake in the financial well-being of the Plan. Plan options can be viewed here.

State employees are automatically eligible for basic life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment insurance of $20,000 free of charge. Additional life insurance coverage is available. The Commonwealth of Kentucky sponsors stat health and life insurance plans. Other types of insurance policies (such as dental, vision, short and long term disability, etc.) are available through a group of companies who have been pre-approved to deduct premiums through payroll deduction. However, they are NOT stat sponsored groups or plans and are completely optional/voluntary for employee enrollment. For a list of approved participants, click here.
Workers' Compensation Insurance
The Kentucky Workers Compensation Program (excludes Transportation Cabinet employees) provides medical and disability benefits to employees who may experience a work-related injury or illness. A managed care program is used to provide covered medical benefits.
