Overview

The Kentucky Department of Corrections (KYDOC) is within the Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet, which is the second largest cabinet in state government and employees with more than 4,000 employees.

Our mission is to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes, and provides opportunities for offenders to acquire skills, which facilitate non-criminal behavior.

Commonwealth's Compensation (Pay)

The Personnel Cabinet is responsible for administering the state's compensation plan, which determines the pay amounts all employees receive based on their job responsibilities an duties. That plan is determined by surveying and comparing the pay of outside agencies and other states that have employees performing similar duties and carrying similar responsibilities against what is financially available within the state.
