Division at a Glance

As of December 2022, the Division of Probation & Parole's 551 sworn officers supervised 48,828 offenders placed on Court ordered or Parole Board recommended community supervision.  In 2022, the Division completed over 21,747 full PSI investigations plus 8,063 supplemental pre-sentence investigations by ten dedicated PSI investigators and seventy-one PSI Officers.  The Division also has forty-three class D Probation & Parole Officers spread throughout the Kentucky State, providing service at the end of 2022 to 4,691 Class D inmates located in the Recovery Service Centers and jails housing Class D Inmates. Additionally, during 2022, the Division provided supervision services to offenders located in the twenty-one Reentry Service Centers.

In addition to the supervision of probationers and parolees, Probation and Parole staff provide investigative services to the Courts and Parole Board, rehabilitation services to offenders, assistance in employment, education resources, home placements and investigating community concerns. Various other duties include court appearances, testimony, reports to the releasing authorities, home visits, drug and alcohol testing, transportation of prisoners, referral of offenders to appropriate resources, monitoring payment of fees, restitution payments, collecting DNA and community service work.  The Division of Probation and Parole is also responsible for the administration of the Interstate Compact, which transfers cases between states; the placement office, which assists incarcerated offenders with proper home placements; and the processing of Civil Rights Restoration requests submitted by ex-offenders. 

Accreditation

The Kentucky Division of Probation and Parole received accreditation by the American Correctional Association beginning in January 2007.  The Division continues to strive in the tradition of industry 'best practices' by seeking reaccreditation through the American Correctional Organization every three years. The Division was most recently accredited in January 2022.​​
