Visitation Request Form

KSR Visiting Information and Requirements

  • Visiting is on Wednesdays only, by appointment only (see link above), and you will be assigned a time for your visit. The visit (regular and non-contact) will be one (1) hour in duration and an inmate may only receive one (1) visit per week. If all appointments are booked, priority will be given to inmates who have not received a visit recently.
  • An inmate shall be allowed to have up to four (4) visitors per visit. It can be four (4) adults or a mix of adults and children so long as there are no more than three (3) children, and they must remain under the supervision of their accompanying adult visitor. If children cause repeated disruptions, a visit may be terminated at the discretion of the Visiting Supervisor with the approval of superiors. Note: visitor (adult and child) is defined as on an inmate's approved visitors list; adult is defined as 18 years of age and older.
  • In some instances, additional children may be permissible so long as they are the inmate's verified children, including step and adopted, or grandchildren only. Approval for such additional children must be obtained beforehand when requesting the visit appointment.
  • You will be permitted to enter the institution no earlier than 30 minutes prior to your appointment time. It is recommended that you arrive 30 minutes prior to ensure you clear through all security processes and can enjoy your full visit.
  • Rules for Visitor Dress:
  1. Visitors must wear modest clothing appropriate for a correctional environment.
  2. Appropriate undergarments must be worn at all times and must not be visible.
  3. Shirts must fully cover the shoulders, cleavage, and midriff.
  4. Footwear must be worn at all times. Bare feet are not permitted.
  5. Prohibited Attire
    1. Provocative, revealing, see-through, or excessively tight-fitting clothing.
    2. Shorts, dresses, or skirts that are more than two (2) inches above the knee when standing.
    3. Tank tops, halter tops, tube tops, or any sleeveless shirts.
    4. Spandex, leggings, or yoga pants worn as the outermost garment. These items are permitted only when worn underneath a skirt, dress, or pants that meet length requirements.
    5. Clothing displaying obscene language, images, or symbols, gang-related insignia, or content that is offensive, derogatory, or disruptive.
    6. Head coverings of any type including hats, caps, bandanas, scarves, or hoods. Religious head coverings are permitted but are subject to search.
  6. The above is applicable to all visitors to the facility including but not limited to inmate visitors, legal and clergy visitors, contractors, tour groups, and guests.

The Visiting Room Supervisor or Shift Supervisor shall make the final determination regarding questions of dress code.  The visit may be denied if the visitor does not appear in appropriate attire as outlined in this policy.
  1. Visitors arriving in violation of the dress code will be given the opportunity to correct the issue if possible (e.g., changing clothes, covering up).
  2. If the issue cannot be corrected, the visitor will be denied entry.
  • Failure to act in a dignified, responsible manner while on a visit may result in the termination of the visit by the Visiting Room Supervisor or the Shift Supervisor.
  • The following are the only items permitted to be brought into a visit:
    • Jewelry the visitor is wearing
    • Forty dollars ($40.00) or less in currency, nothing larger than a five-dollar ($5.00) bill
    • A small, clear change purse or clear plastic baggie
    • Two (2) car keys (one (1) ignition key and one (1) door key) or a remote locking-unlocking device
    • Comb or hairbrush (the hairbrush shall not have the capability of concealing liquid inside the hairbrush)
    • Diapers, limit of three (3), and baby bottles, plastic only and limit of two (2)
    • Sunglasses
    • Picture identification card
    • Umbrella or weather gear for inclement weather
    • Any necessary medication shall be in an authorized container and contain only the amount necessary for the length of the visit.
  • All other aspects of Kentucky Department of Corrections and KSR institutional visitation policies shall be followed.
