To protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non-criminal behavior.

Bloyd began her career with the Department of Corrections in 1998 as a correctional officer at the Kentucky State Reformatory (KSR). She was promoted to sergeant in 2000 and then promoted to classification and treatment officer in 2003. In 2005, Bloyd was promoted to Unit Administrator I, in which she served as the re-entry coordinator for the facility. In 2007, she was promoted to Unit Administrator II and was responsible for the mental health special housing unit.

In 2010, Bloyd was promoted to Administrative Section Supervisor at the prison where she supervised multiple areas including offender information, the re-entry office and contract programs. She was named program administrator for KSR in 2015 and was recently assigned as the interim food service branch manager. In addition to these multi-faceted positions, Bloyd has experience in critical incident management.

Bloyd, is a 2015 graduate of the Commissioner's Executive Leadership Program and an active member of Kentucky Council on Crime and Delinquency (KCCD)
