The Kentucky Department of Corrections Issues Puncture and Cut Resistant Gloves

The Kentucky Department of Corrections values the health and safety of all our employees. We recognize that the contaminated sharps hazard is a clear and present danger to all of our personnel working inside institutions, or on the street with Probation and Parole. The Department's decision to issue puncture and cut resistant gloves is a proactive move intended to increase staff safety and reduce the risk of life-changing needle stick injuries.
"We want our staff to feel confident to do their job," said DOC Safety Director Webb Strang. "I believe that needlestick resistant gloves will be a standard for safety just as safety-toed shoes and eyewear."
