Adams began his career in corrections in 2001 at the Boyle County Detention Center. In 2002 he transferred to Marion Adjustment Center (MAC) and rose through the ranks to sergeant and lieutenant. He held numerous positions while at MAC, including quality assurance manager, accreditation manager, defensive tactics instructor, public information officer, and crisis prevention and intervention instructor.
In 2009 Adams began his career with DOC as a program administrator in the Classification Branch. He then assisted the Substance Abuse Division by managing the program waiting list. From there, he transferred to the Office of Adult Institutions working on the critical incident management manuals and other duties.
In 2013 Adams became the administrative section supervisor at NTC, supervising multiple areas and Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) compliance. He is a certified PREA auditor and American Correctional Association auditor. Adams has served as a deputy warden for the past three years, most recently at Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex and NTC.
Adams received his bachelor's degree in police administration from Eastern Kentucky University. He is a graduate of the Commissioner's Executive Leadership Program, as well as a member of the Kentucky Council on Crime and Delinquency (KCCD) and Southern States Correctional Association.
