Mission
To provide a medium security institution for the citizens of the Commonwealth of Kentucky within the organizational framework of the Corrections Department, Division of Adult Institutions. This institution will provide housing, care, and safety for adult male felons while delivering resources to the inmate, staff, and Commonwealth which are designed to measurably reduce the probability of inmate re-incarceration. The Western Kentucky Correctional Complex will extend a firm, reasonable, and humane environment which stresses the philosophy that the adults assigned here are encouraged to accept responsibility for their conduct, individual attitudes, and actions while incarcerated inside a security enhanced area. The institution offers assistance through an inmate community work program, operates a farming program, and maintains the facility by utilizing minimum security inmates.

- Larry Chandler to Retire as Warden of KSR; J. David Donahue Will Return to Kentucky
Tuesday, June 24, 2008 Frankfort, Ky. (June 24, 2008) – Larry Chandler’s name has become synonymous with Kentucky Corrections. Twenty-six years ago he walked through the doors of the Kentucky State Reformatory and went to work as a correctional officer. At the end of August when he retires as warden of KSR, he will walk out those same doors leaving his mark on not only that prison, but the entire state correctional system.
