About RCC

The Roederer Correctional Complex is situated approximately 3 miles south of LaGrange, Kentucky and approximately 20 miles north of Louisville, Kentucky.  Roederer Correctional Complex opened on August 28, 1976, originally as a one hundred fifty (150) bed minimum-security "work camp" institution to operate a 3,000 acre prison farm.

On December 1, 1987, Roederer was converted to a medium/minimum security institution with one hundred (100) medium and one hundred fifty-two (152) minimum custody inmates.  The institution underwent another major transition on May 1, 1989, when it was transformed to the Assessment and Classification Center for the Kentucky Department of Corrections for all incoming state prisoners, excluding inmates that received the death penalty.

The physical plant consists of a total of one thousand two (1002) beds. Seven hundred thirty (730) medium security beds are within the fenced perimeter. One hundred (100) of these medium custody inmates are permanently assigned inmates, which provide support services for the institution. These inmates provide the basic services to the institution such as Food Service, Laundry, Legal Aide Office, Grievance Office, Janitorial, etc. The remaining six hundred thirty (630) medium security beds are utilized to house inmates entering the system as part of the Assessment Center for the Department of Corrections. There are currently two hundred seventy-two (272) minimum custody beds located outside the fence. Two hundred (200) minimum custody inmates are participating in the Substance Abuse Program. The remaining seventy-two (72) minimum custody inmates also provide support services for the institution such as Maintenance, Warehouse, Horticulture Program, and the Farm Operation.
