Tom Cannady Named Director of Correctional Industries
Frankfort, Ky. (June 17, 2008) – Kentucky Department of Corrections Deputy Commissioner Al Parke today announced the hiring of Tom Cannady as director of Kentucky Correctional Industries. Cannady comes to the Department of Corrections from the Kentucky Department of Labor, where for the past four years he was Executive Director of Labor-Management Relations & Mediation. In that role he directed a state office tasked with improving working relationships between labor and management groups operating under collective bargaining agreements. “I look forward to Tom Cannnady’s management and leadership in meeting the unique challenges facing KCI,” said Parke. Prior to the Labor Department, Cannady worked over 16 years in the private sector and his work experience includes positions as a Staffing Services Manager, Human Resources Coordinator, and a retail store manager. A resident of Louisville, Cannady received his bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing from Murray State University. He replaces Michael O’Laughlin who was appointed to the position in 2004. O’Laughlin retired earlier this month after more than 24 years in correctional industries management.
