Deputy Warden Operations Sharon Veech

Sharon Veech is a 17-year veteran of the Department of Corrections. She began her career in 1990 at the Kentucky Correctional Institution for Women as a Correctional Officer. In her career she has served the Department in a number of roles including Classification Treatment Officer, Lieutenant, Corrections Training Instructor, and Program Administrator for the Division of Institutional Operations at Central Office.

During her five-year stint at Central Office she worked in the Classification Branch and directed the Department’s Security Threat Group (STG) efforts throughout the state. In 2004, she transferred to Roederer Correctional Complex as a program administrator in the Assessment Center.

Veech is a member of the Kentucky Council on Crime and Delinquency (KCCD) and Southern States Correctional Association. She has been honored several times during her career including Uniformed Supervisor of the Year in 1997 from KCCD, Corrections Support Service Person of the Year from Southern States in 2006, and last year she was selected as Programs Supervisor of the Year at Roederer by her fellow employees. In receiving that award, Veech was commended for not only her hard work and dedication to the job but also her willingness to help others, and it cited as an example her volunteer work after Hurricane Katrina.

A graduate of the University of Louisville, Veech has her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. She also has 15 years of military experience in the Army, which includes two years of active duty and the remaining time in the Army Reserve’s military police corps.

Veech is a native of Louisville and she resides in LaGrange.
