John Wright
Deputy Warden John Wright began his Corrections Career in February 1984 at the Jacksonville Pre-Release Center in Jacksonville, Illinois. The Pre-Release Center housed adult male inmates within 60 days of their release date. Wright served as Record Office and Bureau of Identification Supervisor. In October 1984, the Pre-Release Center closed with the opening of the 1,000 bed Jacksonville Correctional Center, a minimum security facility. Wright continued to serve as Record Office and Bureau of Identification Supervisor.
In October 1997, Wright was promoted to Superintendent of the 400 bed Pittsfield Work Camp. As Superintendent, Wright was responsible for security and programs at the facility. Wright was promoted in August 2001 to Assistant Warden of Programs at the Jacksonville Correctional Center. He was appointed Acting Warden at Jacksonville from September 2002 to January 2003.
In July 2004, Wright was appointed Deputy Warden of Security at the Kentucky Correctional Institution for Women in Pewee Valley. Wright transferred to the Kentucky State Reformatory at LaGrange in July 2006.
Wright is a native of Manchester, Illinois. He and his wife, Astacia, have five grown children.
