Local Facilities

The Division of Local Facilities is charged with overseeing community-based residential programs for inmates and enforcement of minimum jail standards.

Jail Services Branch

The Jail Services Branch is responsible for county jail inspections, inspecting jails biannually to assure compliance with the Kentucky Jail Standards Chapter 3 Jail Standards for Full-service Facilities.

The Branch also provides technical assistance in jail operations, policy and procedures, and staff training.  In addition, the Branch approves all architectural drawings for jail renovation and new construction projects and monitors the construction process.

The Class D Felon Program which began in 1992, allows Class D felons to be housed in county jails.
