To protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non-criminal behavior.

 Deputy Warden Kathy Litteral 

Picture of Deputy Warden of Security Kathy LitteralKathy Litteral began her correctional career as a Classification and Treatment Officer at EKCC in March of 1991.  In 1993 she was promoted to Unit Administrator I and in 1996 was promoted to Classification and Treatment Supervisor.

She has served the Institution as a trained Hostage Negotiator, Public Information Officer, Grievance Coordinator and Kentucky State Charitable Campaign Representative.

Litteral is a member of the Cave Run Chapter of the State of Kentucky on Crime and Delinquency and the American Correctional Association. She is a 1980 graduate of the University Kentucky where she earned a bachelors degree in psychology. Her hobbies are tennis and karate.
