Picture of Deputy Warden Lenn NealThe transfer of Deputy Warden Lenn Neal from Little Sandy Correctional Complex to Bell County Forestry Camp in October 2009 allowed the Bell County native to not only return home, to the community where he has been a lifelong resident, but it also allowed him to return to the prison where he began his Corrections career.

Neal began his career with the Department of Corrections in April 1986 as a Correctional Officer at the Bell County Forestry Camp. In 1989 he was promoted to Sergeant and three years later, achieved the rank of Lieutenant. In February of 2007 he was promoted to Captain and held that position until being promoted in September of 2007 to Deputy Warden at the Little Sandy Correctional Complex. Neal held this position for a little over two years until receiving the transfer back to his home institution.

In 1992 when the Bell County Forestry Camp became the first minimum-security institution to start a Corrections Emergency Response Team, it was under the guidance and supervision of Neal. He has continued his involvement and dedication to the CERT Team, currently holding the position as the Eastern Regional CERT Commander for the Department.

Neal is working toward his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He is the Brigade General for the 15th Division of the National Defense Service Command, U.S. Volunteer Homeland Security Service Command out of Washington, D.C.
