Blackburn Correctional Complex

Mission:

To protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non-criminal behavior.

 Deputy Warden Dale Martin 

Picture of Deputy Warden MartinMartin served with the United States Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina from November 1986-November 1989. After leaving the military, he began his career with the Department of Corrections in November 1989 as a Correctional Officer at BCC. In March 1998, Martin was promoted to Correctional Sergeant; in February 2002, he was promoted to Correctional Lieutenant; and in October 2004, he was promoted to Correctional Captain I, all the while remaining assigned to BCC. In October 2008, Martin was promoted to Training Instructor/Coordinator at Blackburn where he is currently serving.  He also serves as the CERT Commander at BCC.

During his nearly 21 years of service at Blackburn Correctional Complex, Martin received numerous awards, including Supervisor of the Month in June 2003, Supervisor of the Month in February 2005, Blackburn Employee of the Year for 2009, Blackburn Employee of the First Quarter in 2010, as well as many letters of commendation.
