Employee of the Month

Michelle Coolidge is the employee of the month. She has shown an exemplary work ethic that would serve as a good example to any officer. Officer Coolidge conducts herself in a professional manner in every aspect of her career. She is an asset to 7A as she relates well to both the inmates and her co-workers. An incident occurred where Officer Coolidge was required to pat-down an inmate. The inmate was in possession of contraband and in an attempt to escape punishment; he shoved Officer Coolidge to run to the restroom. Officer Coolidge displayed level headed decision making and quick thinking when she pursued the inmate and observed the contraband being disposed of in the toilet.
Supervisor of the Quarter
Captain Thomas Botts is the Supervisor of the quarter. As Shift Supervisor on the 3:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. shift, Captain Botts sets an example of professional behavior to his shift. He maintains the overtime on his shift by using a hands on personal management approach and has taken his responsibility of teaching new staff members the correct way to handle their position at LLCC. Captain Botts volunteered to assume the Commander’s position of the CERT team when leadership was needed.
Western Kentucky Correctional Complex
Betty Dixon has been selected as employee of the month for September. She is very knowledgeable of her job as warehouse supervisor. The warehouse is always clean and well organized. She is willing to help out in other areas when needed. She always displays a smile with a professional attitude. This makes a more pleasant working environment for those that come into contact with her throughout the day. She communicates well and gets along well with both staff and inmates.
Little Sandy Correctional Complex
Christopher Littleton began his career with the Department of Corrections in January of 2006 as a Correctional Officer at the LSCC facility. Supervisory comments on Littleton’s job performance include the following: “He displays excellent job knowledge and his work ethic is to be commended. He has great interpersonal skills and is always willing to assist his co-workers. His time and attendance is excellent. He always handles himself in a positive manner. He recently found an institutional shank……”. In addition to his security duties, Littleton acts as a mentor to newly assigned security staff. He is presently assigned to the Second Shift as a Yard Officer and always completes his job assignments timely, while also assisting co-workers when needed. C.O. Christopher Littleton is a great asset to the institution and deserves recognition and praise from the staff at Little Sandy Correctional Complex.

Kentucky State Penitentiary
Angie Thomas began employment at Kentucky State Penitentiary (KSP) on June 16, 2006 as Offender Information Specialist I in the Records Department. Although she has only been employed for a short time Thomas has excelled in her duties. She is a very dependable and capable employee as evidenced by her assuming the duties of her supervisor during an extended leave. Her work ethics are outstanding and she often stays over to ensure needed paperwork is completed in a timely manner.
Angie accomplishes tasks while maintaining a positive attitude and work atmosphere even in adverse conditions. She is an excellent example of a team player and is an asset to the institution.
